Product Description

Incoloy 925 Tube – High-Performance Alloy Solution for Demanding Environments

Incoloy 925 Tube is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-iron-chromium alloy tube designed for high-pressure, high-temperature, and highly corrosive service environments. With the addition of molybdenum, copper, titanium, and aluminum, Incoloy 925 combines excellent mechanical strength with superior resistance to sulfide stress cracking, pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. These properties make it widely used in oil and gas downhole tubing, marine systems, offshore platforms, and chemical processing equipment where conventional stainless steel materials may fail under aggressive operating conditions.

Due to its outstanding corrosion resistance and high tensile strength after age hardening, Incoloy 925 tubing performs exceptionally well in sour gas wells, seawater systems, and high-chloride environments. The alloy maintains excellent structural stability and long-term reliability under H₂S-containing conditions, making it an ideal material for demanding industrial applications requiring both corrosion resistance and mechanical durability.

What are the Incoloy 925 Tube?

Incoloy 925 Tube is manufactured from a precipitation-hardenable nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper, titanium, and aluminum. Through age-hardening heat treatment, the alloy achieves high strength while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance in harsh environments. Incoloy 925 tubing is particularly suitable for applications requiring resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, sulfide stress cracking, and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing media.

The alloy offers excellent mechanical properties with tensile strength reaching approximately 724 MPa after proper heat treatment. Because of its outstanding performance in high-pressure and corrosive service environments, Incoloy 925 tubes are widely used in oilfield downhole equipment, marine engineering systems, chemical processing plants, and high-performance industrial piping applications.

Product Standards

Our tubes meet standards that are known all over the world, so you know you're getting approved quality:

  • ASTM B423: Nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper metal pipe and tube that are seamless
  • ASTM B446: Rods and bars made of nickel-chromium-molybdenum-columbium alloy
  • Bar and wire specifications in ASTM B805 are often used as building blocks for seamless tubes.
  • NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 includes materials that can be used in oil and gas production sites that have H2S in the air ASME SB-423

Production and Processing Technology

TSM Technology manufactures Incoloy 925 tubes using advanced processing technology and precision-controlled production equipment to ensure excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and dimensional accuracy. The production process begins with strict raw material selection, in which only certified high-purity alloy materials are sourced to ensure consistent chemical composition and stable performance. Vacuum induction melting and controlled casting processes are then used to achieve uniform alloy structure and minimize impurities. After melting, the material undergoes hot working processes such as forging, extrusion, or piercing to refine the grain structure and improve mechanical strength. Precision cold drawing and cold pilgering technologies are subsequently applied to achieve tight dimensional tolerances, excellent concentricity, and superior surface finish. To optimize strength and corrosion resistance, the tubes are subjected to solution annealing, stabilization, and age-hardening heat treatments under carefully controlled temperatures.

TSM Technology follows a fully integrated manufacturing process to ensure traceability and quality control at every stage. The production flow typically includes raw material inspection and PMI testing, vacuum induction melting, hot forming or piercing, cold drawing or pilger rolling, solution annealing at approximately 1700–1800°F, age-hardening treatment, and final inspection with certification. After final machining, the tube surfaces are pickled, cleaned, and thoroughly inspected before packaging. This multi-stage manufacturing process ensures that every Incoloy 925 tube meets international standards and performs reliably in high-pressure, high-temperature, and corrosive service environments.

Quality Inspection

Your operations depend on materials that won't fail. That's why we implement rigorous inspection protocols:

Test Method Standard Purpose
Positive Material Identification PMI Verify Ni-Cr-Mo-Ti balance
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) ASTM E426 Detect subsurface discontinuities
Eddy Current Testing ASTM E426 Identify surface and near-surface flaws

What are the Features of Incoloy 925 Tube?

High Strength That Can Be Hardened Over Time:

  • It can reach yield strengths above 724 MPa, which is a lot higher than nickel metals that can't be hardened.
  • Excellent Resistance to rust: A high PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) makes sure that pitting and pocket rust are not a problem.
  • Resistance to H₂: Fully meets NACE MR0175 for bad service conditions.
  • Cryogenic Toughness: It keeps its high impact power even when it's below zero degrees.
  • Weldability: It can be joined with special filler metals like Inconel 625 or 718, as long as the right heat treatment is done after the welding is done.
  • Dimensional Accuracy: Tight measurements and high-quality surface finishing make sure that the parts fit perfectly into important systems.

Application

In three main high-stakes situations, you can trust Incoloy 925 Tube:

1. Downhole Sour Gas Completion

This is what is used in deep, sour gas wells for tube hangers, tool joints and polished bore receptacles. Standard metals would fail in places with a lot of pressure and hydrogen sulphide, but this material works reliably and lasts a long time.

2. Marine and Offshore Engineering

Used in propeller shafts and high-strength naval pipe systems. Because it doesn't rust or grow biofouling in seawater, it has to be used on all underwater equipment and offshore sites.

3. Chemical Processing

It can be used as high-strength pipe for handling sulphuric and phosphoric acids, especially when the medium has oxidising impurities or chlorides that cause weaker stainless steels to attack locally.

FAQ

Q1: How does the product differ from Incoloy 825?

A: The 925 alloy is basically close to the 900 alloy, but it has titanium and aluminium in it, which lets it age harder and become much stronger.

Q2: Is this tube suitable for NACE MR0175 service?

A: Yes, it is explicitly listed for use in sour oilfield environments, provided it meets the specified heat treatment and hardness requirements.

Q3: What is the typical heat treatment for this tube?

A: It involves a solution anneal followed by a stabilization and aging cycle (precipitation hardening) to achieve peak properties.

Q4: Can this alloy be welded?

A: Yes, but it requires specialized filler metals like Inconel 625 or 718 and careful post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) to maintain corrosion resistance and strength.

Q5: What are the common machining challenges?

A: It work-hardens quickly because it has a lot of nickel in it and is already age-hardened. Heavy-duty tools, slow speeds, and good carbide tools are what we suggest.

Q6: Do you provide material certificates?

A: Absolutely. Every order includes MTC per EN10204.3.1, along with full traceability documentation.

Q7: What is your minimum order quantity?

A: Our MOQ is 50 kg, and we maintain stock for faster delivery on standard sizes.
